2 New Services for Housebound Older Residents

8 Oct 2026

The Trust is delighted to be funding two new services to support older, housebound residents across St Albans District.

Housebound residents over 60 can request a Home Visit from Citizens Advice St Albans to help them with issues they face like: debts, support to complete Pension Credit or Attendance Allowance forms, Housing issues, Reducing Energy Bills and switching suppliers. It’s a FREE Service and you can call on 01727 811 118. Lines are open Monday to Thursday 10am to 4pm, and Friday 10am to 1pm. They aim to contact all referrals within 3 working days.
For most people they will phone first to find out more about their situation and the help they need. They’ll then make an appointment to visit. When they contact them by phone they may call from a withheld number. If they can’t phone them, they’ll email, send a letter or find another way.

Housebound residents over 60 can also request home support to become more active and improve their nutrition from Health and Independent Living Support (HILS). This includes 8 weeks of tailored one-to-one support, gentle and safe exercises and nutritional advice. The referral form is on the HILS website or call 0330 2000 103 and press option 1 for Hertfordshire, then option 2.
