Do you know an older person who is feeling lonely, or who could benefit from getting out regularly? There are lots of friendly clubs across the District eager to welcome new members. Each one is different, some offer hot drinks and biscuits, whilst others offer a hot lunch, some have bingo, seated exercise or crafts, whilst others also have talks about useful subjects, like how to apply for benefits.  You may want to try a few to see which suits you best.

One of our clients joined a club last year and is keen for other people to give it a go too. ‘I thought a club for older people wouldn’t be for me. I’m 75, independent and still got all my marbles. But I am so glad I popped down to see what it was all about. I love the new friends I’ve made, the fun we have, the conversations and of course the tea and biscuits. Do you know, its now the highlight of my week’.

Click on photo of the Silver Pages booklet on the front page of our website to take you to a digital copy of the Silver Pages, which is packed with information on friendly welcoming clubs.

Do also get in touch with some of the clubs if you feel you can volunteer with them eg serving refreshments, driving clients or helping to run the club. They’d love to hear from you.
